In Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherlands, Emily Wilde, a brilliant but introverted scholar of faerie folklore, continues her research after publishing the first encyclopedia of faeries. She works alongside Wendell Bambleby—her charming colleague who also happens to be an exiled faerie king trying to escape his dangerous mother. Even though Bambleby proposes to her, Emily hesitates, knowing that loving a faerie comes with great risks.

When assassins arrive to capture Bambleby, the two travel to the Austrian Alps, where Emily believes there may be a magical doorway leading back to his realm.
